Dear Shine Community,

In the three months since I joined this wonderful community, I have been challenged and inspired as I’ve listened, learned, and become acquainted with our history and collective work. I am excited about the many opportunities this historic moment presents and aware of the challenges that we face, together. In the meantime, I am writing to update you on a few happy new developments as we move forward.

First, we were joined by our new Shine Operations Manager and Executive Assistant, Sonto Ncamisile Ziqubu. Sonto comes to us from ActionAid International, where she was the Executive
Assistant to the Secretary General and International Board. Her primary role is to keep us all organised and our day to day operations running smoothly. Should you be in doubt about who to speak to at Shine, Sonto is your main point of contact. She is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and you can reach her at: sonto.ziqubu@theshinecampaign.org.
You may have noticed our recent transition from the name “Shine Invest” to “The Shine Campaign”. In addition to being easier to remember, we feel that The Shine Campaign speaks more broadly to who we are and more accurately and clearly reflects our mission and commitment to energy access for all. More to come on this as we develop our new Shine Strategic Plan, which we expect to have finalised in September.

Please stay tuned for more updates, and we welcome your updates and suggestions as well.

My best regards,

Everjoice J. Win
